Customer reviews general overview
| Review site | Engie | Opus | Haven |
| Glassdoor | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Trust pilot | 4.2 – Great The most recent reviews are actually mostly negative. The reason for the 81% of excellent reviews is mostly down to the personal level of customer service. Each of the positive reviews are naming individuals who were helpful. This suggests a very personal level of service. | 1.8 – poor There are very few reviews but all of them seem to be extremely angry due to sheer incompetence of the company. | 2.4 – poor The poor reviews from this company seem to be mainly complaining about the lack of communication and a level of disorganisation in their billing services. |
| The Facebook page seems to be mainly concerned with advertising the green energy aspect of this business and their environmentalism. The comments from consumers tend to point towards a lack of communication with consumers. | The comments on this page are disgruntled but not particularly angry (unusually positive for Facebook). This page is mainly comprised of articles on energy consumption in the UK in general. | They have a Facebook page but it is completely empty. |
General overview of how the company is to work for
| Review site | Engie | Opus | Haven |
| Glassdoor | 3.7 Relaxing work environment but the pay is too low. | 4.0 There are good incentives to work there but the work is too hard and the hours are too long apparently. | 3.4 Bad office politics. |
| Trust pilot | 4.2 – Great There are two reviews of someone who used to work for them. It said to stay away from the company and gave them one star. | 1.8 – poor There do not seem to be any reviews from staff on Trustpilot, however there are replies of thanks/condolence to every review. | 2.4 – poor There do not seem to be any reviews from staff on Trustpilot, however there are replies of thanks/condolence to every review. |
| There doesn’t seem to be a narrative from the staff/workers on the Facebook page from Engie. | There are not any comments from specific staff members but someone is clearly employed to be making the Facebook page sleek. | They have a Facebook page but it is completely empty. |

Was a little concerned when I received a letter this morning online to say that my monthly direct debits were going to double and then having read a lot of reviews on here so I called up Engie who I have to say were extremely helpful and said they could have overestimated and asked me what ‘i’ would like to pay a month and we would monitor it from there. All in very happy at this stage.

What an absolute bliss to deal with Engie!
Their customer service is absolutely amazing! My best compliments to the head of Customer Service Department! You can actually arrange a call back, which in my case was extremely convenient.
Excellent online dashboard, very easy to work it!
Thank you for doing such a great job!

Fitted me a fire door that is a joke.
My knuckles bang on the tacky frame every time I use my key.
It has a fair sized gap in it around the bottom corner that lets light in so pretty useless for a firedoor and less safe than my old one,
That will never keep smoke or flames out.
It looks tacky and cheap like a badly made flatpack.
The wooden frame that is meant to protect me from fire and break in’s is so soft you can dent it with a finger nail which explains how it got so damaged just fitting it.
There has been a stabbing in my building, two break in attempts and the police are here so often it has become the norm.
Junkies and drunks are always here and often hang around.
I haven’t slept right since this door was fitted and since I’m the first one in my building to have one of these so called Engie fire doors I feel all the more vulnerable for it.
They fitted the glass in backwards so the texture is on the outside.
The door and frame is marked, chipped, dented and scratched.
Trim like the spy hole isn’t even attached securely as it spins freely in the door and the cover plate for the door closing mechanism fell off after only a day and to be honest it not only looks really cheap it looks so warn with all the marks that you would think it was fitted 5 years ago rather than five days ago.
I even have exposed nail heads on the window trim which not only can you see but feel as no attempt was even made to hide it.
My old door despite being nearly 8 years old didn’t have a mark on it and looked far nicer than this.
Engie thinks this is acceptable, the door is cheap junk to start with which I wouldn’t even use on a garden shed and how it was fitted shows little care.
Grenfell tower hasn’t even being demolished yet but both Rotherham council and Engie have no concerns about risking mine and others safety.
You can tell they were the lowest bidder.
No wonder Rotherham council is working with them.
I have contacted citizens advice and linked pictures showing all the defects as well as my worries about the strength of the door.
At the very least no one else in my building wants these fitted to their homes.
Supposed to come to my faulty shower
Supposed to come to my faulty shower, took them 3 months to come out. To be told it doesn’t work, now it’s been nearly a month waiting on a new one to be fitted. A don’t know how this is a multi million pound company the way it runs it’s operation.
Don’t even know this company and I’m…
Don’t even know this company and I’m receiving emails IN FRENCE, asking for an invoice of 900€
No customer service on a sunday
No customer service on a Sunday for account issues. Would have been left with no heating if it were not for emergency credit. So money has been taken from my bank, but not credited in my account. This is not acceptable service for such an expensive heating solution.
Engie have owed me £2550.00 for six weeks and despite several assurances that they will give me back my money they haven’t. I am now having to report this to Leeds police. As if any small business needs aggravation like this right now!

I worked for Engie for 8 years as…
I worked for Engie for 8 years as cleaning supervisor and can honestly say it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for, constantly running out of PPE, having to bring my own cleaning supplies in to clean toilets, taking dirty clothes and mops home because washing machine was broken, making cleaners clean 2 or more sections per night, cramming 5 and half hours cleaning into the 3 hours that they’re paid for, bullying and lying management, fraudulently claiming hours and overtime that they haven’t done, caretaker Andy Brierley is the worst person that they could have put in charge, such bullying which caused me to resign, constantly picking on the cleaners, one in particular who suffers with mental health issues, trying to force him to leave. I advise you to STAY WELL AWAY FROM ENGIE, they are BAD NEWS.
Horrible company to work for, they still owe me 2days pay. Cyril Hartingan, worst site manager I’ve ever met, swearing and shouting at the staff. James Breheny, is another horrible and rude site manager. I would highly not recommend to work for Engie. Avoid. Avoid

Thank you to Diana from Customer Care
We had a billing related issue with our smart meter at one of our other sites, and Diana from the Customer Care team was extremely helpful in getting this resolved for us.
Thank you to Diana for taking control of this issue and keeping us updated during the investigation period.

The WORST energy company I have dealt with. I stupidly signed a four years contract with them, there’s no way out, every single month I’ve been over charged. Finally, changing my attitude, I started to submit meter readings to them using their email reminder, but after a few months, the invoices I’m getting still says the sum is based on estimates. What a lie this company is shameless

Awful service. They were “fine” for a year of supplying us, no debt incurred, everything paid on DD. Went to renew contract, they accepted the new contract THEN declined it when it came to kick in. They’ve now moved us on to “out of contract” rates when it was THEM that reneged on the agreement. Avoid.

Have been with this company for 6 years. Tried to renew my contract with them and I was declined due to a credit search. I complained to customer service who said it wasn’t my credit history it was just the new way opus energy are working. My money was good enough for 6 previous years but not now.

Why no one does anything to regulate…
Why no one does anything to regulate those cowboys!
We’ve just took over a new site which we assume Haven power was supplying before.. we’ve got a email with an invoice to pay, of over 3 thousand pounds for 1 month consumption, we’re not even inside yet.. there is not one bulb on. the place is shut off, I keep reading those Review from honest people having to deal with those companies whom seems to get away with this. STOP this nonsense grow an heart.
Last year in with Haven on a 3 year…
Last year in with Haven on a 3 year contract, thankfully. I won’t deal with them again . Like others have said billing is terrible and its very difficult to understand them with all the overcharges and credits.
I went with them due to them being 1p cheaper than Scottish Power on the summer rate.
I have very much come to regret this decision as as soon as the billing came Haven slapped on 2 extra hidden charges not mentioned by the salesman or in my initial contract , these are a climate charge which i believe is .8 p per unit which i think is charged by all companies , but there is also an EMR charge which now amounts to 1.8 p per unit .
This charge i believe is particular to Haven and is considerable , i’m actually wondering whether it was lawful to make this charge when it was not disclosed in the initial contract , a job for the energy Onbudsman perhaps.
So in summary i have very little trust with the company, and would suggest you look elsewhere even if the initial deal looks slightly better.
To anyone else unhappy with the stealth EMR Levy applied to there account , please make a complaint to the Ombudsman . It’s easy to do , Ombudsman ruled in favour of my case and I got 3 years of EMR levy charges refunded.
Was just called by a man calling…
Was just called by a man calling himself Darren Crow who said worked on behalf of Haven Power asking for Electric meter details as lost on system. When I started to ask a question of who he was a why he was calling he got very rude. Confirmed he had got out details from the internet.
He refused to give me his telephone number or repeat the company he worked for. To me this seems like he was attempting to scam. On further investigation we found out that he worked as an agent for Advanced Collection Systems Limited who have in turn been employed by Haven Power. By subcontracting Haven Power have given myself a very bad impression. Why would someone refuse to give company details and phone number if working within the law. One can only draw your own conclusions from the above. We do not deal with companies that engage employees who act like this. You need to make your own decision. You are warned

Good reviews:

Broad job tasks. Work as a true HR generalist with a wide range of people. Good people to work with in the team as well as management Flexible working patterns and allowing working from home regularly even before covid

Bad reviews:
stress, human ressources, paris based only
Enforce change regularly with no real consultation process. Lack of clarity of career progression and opportunities Repetitive – each year the same things go on the people plan, and nothing gets done. Just gets fobbed off to the next year as too busy doing day to day work. High level of admin work required despite having a shared service centre who should be there to help.
Advice to Management
Utilise shared service centre more for routine admin tasks and enhance career development opportunities. Large company should have more and high level of flexibility for location where possible.

Friendly Always room for growth Rewarding Sociable Great L&D function to improve you whatever the level you’re at.
Leadership team are always helpful. Working environment was friendly and supportive
Opus really looked after everyone throughout Covid. Topping up everyone’s salary who was on Furlough, providing training for anyone who was off to keep them up to date, making Work From Home really easy and being flexible around difficulties with childcare etc. Loads of my friends at other recruitment companies had really different experiences where their companies seemed to only care about the bottom line. I’ve always thought this was a really successful place to work, but it made me see a different, softer side of the company this year as well.

Bad reviews:
Long work hours – 40+ hr weeks
Long hours (but what recruitment job doesn’t have that?)
The most KPI heavy environment you will probably ever be apart of within recruitment with constant emails going around about how many calls have been done, cv’s to clients to even fake adverts posted. Also updating managers on a day plan 3 times a day which you have to create before you start work and not in work hours. (This is on top of doing a week plan also). Commission structure poor compared to other agencies in the area. Very old technology used including a database that is very complicated and slow to use. Old school recruitment stuck in the past. High churn and do not value any new ideas or opinions (managers are always right).
Advice to Management
Trust employees to get on with work rather than beating them with a KPI stick and micro managing them 10 hours a day
