Reviews Eon Next and SSE

General overview of how the company is to work for

Review siteSSE  Eon Next
GlassdoorFlexible working hours lead to a good work life balance. However, there is a lack of health and safety vigilance that is uncomfortable for some.People are generally very happy with the culture created at Eon Next. Everyone seems to get along well with each other and doesn’t have too many problems with the management. However, they felt that the culture could be too cost focused and this led to the strategy changing too often.

Trust pilotAt only 1.5 stars, the general overview of SSE is “bad” on Trustpilot. This is due apparently to a lack of effort on the part of the company to be courteous or punctual with their services.Eon Next achieved 4.4 stars, rating “excellent”. This much higher score on Trustpilot seems to be because the company was predominantly fast. They were also easy to use, and delivered their services with an air of sympathy.
FacebookQuite a few people seem to be reaching out to SSE’s Facebook page in order to receive services that are being ignored through the usual service platforms. However, it is a different story on Facebook. The reviews on here were sadly very poor, due to an apparent lack of good customer service. People felt that the workers were rude to them.

I had a query on my bill and I emailed Eon customer services and within hours I received a detailed answer from Sean. He was very thorough, helpful and friendly.

I found the website very easy to use, compared to others. I don`t usually research price comparison sites, instead I set a mindful price I personally find acceptable and if the tariff is within this price i accept it. SO I am not the best person to comment on prices!

Arvinder is an absolute gem, really has been so supportive and helpful on email when I send over readings. An asset to your company. Very professional, polite and highly efficient.

Had a shop round the comparison sites. Couldn’t find a better deal than renewing e-on next. Good deal.

Had first class help from Leah with a potentially difficult situation which she made so easy, keeping me fully informed and showing total empathy.

Simple to do, for someone who does not really understand tariffs, but with your help i am getting better

I have been transferred from Npower, not been well supported by Npower. I had a long Facebook messenger conversation with Hannah from EON Next customer services. She was extremely helpful and informative, providing the information I needed and I now feel more in control.

Time to change tariffs. Options were clearly summarised. I never had any problems with npower so am hoping that this continues with EON. Only time will tell. Meter readings are there to be seen online so easy to follow.

This review is for the feedback regarding my father’s telephone call with one of your energy specialists earlier today. The energy specialist (Mrs. Danni Oldham) was patient, clear, confident, and professional in giving customer service.

My father was pleased that his misunderstanding had been expertly resolved by Mrs. Oldham.
She’s a 5-star energy specialist!

renewing my energy was simple, easy to follow forms and all the information i need

Great smooth transfer process. Had an issue with meter readings and estimates (turns out it was my error) which was easily fixed via email which is so much easier than phoning etc…. Emin was so helpful and got back to me straight away with relevant questions and sorted the issue out immediately. Cannot fault them at all!

Bad Reviews

Trying to find where to renew tariff confusing in website. Also trying to get away from dreaded smart meters that nobody wants, made me select standard tariff the only one offering this option. It should be noted i was transferred to Eon next from Npower neither energy companies that i chose.

Awful!
Didnt produce bills for a long time to explain where my racked up account balance had disappeared too. Over £20 dearer on each fuel. Decided to switch for a better price. Now nearly 2 months on they are still charging me for electricity usage despite already paying my new supplier and receiving bills.

The new tariffs offered by Eon Next are a rip off, as the unit price for Electricity is up by 29% and for Gas up by 32% on my previous tariff. However in my area all the companies tariffs are within £2 per annum variance. This may be an accident or maybe a cartel so please make up your own mind. The renew process was easy but so it should be at these prices.

I have been bullied and threatened for many months by this company, even threatening to enter my home to install smart metre if I don’t pay my bill,,when I do get to speak to them they say I don’t owe them money??? I know I say, so why the threats,, it won’t happen again,, then it does? I have lodged five formal complaints not one answered?? This morning, I have spoken to the phillapeans passed to South Africa then back to phillapeans then Scotland then to Portsmouth nearly two hours and still not in touch with complaints,,I eventually gave in again, and await more threats.
I am on their vulnerable list due to lung disease I struggle speaking , they have done nothing but abuse me and patronise me,, I don’t know how to end this nightmare.and I can’t afford a solicitor.they are making me iller than I need to be with their non sensical threats and demands.

Worst company i have had to deal with. Have been trying to get a final bill for a property i was leasing. Have called them so many times, given them the meter readings and they say it will be dealt with. Yet again today i have received a bill for the period i was not in the property. It is a complete nightmare. Everytime i call they advise they have no record of me cancelling the contract. If you have any sense, do not use this company, worst company ever. I wouldn’t even have given them one star, but you have to leave at least one to leave a review.

Disgusting company, wouldn’t talk to me despite having relavent authority. Was calling to sort an over due bill they are wrongly chasing my client for. Didn’t have my LOA on file but was due to the fact they didn’t file it!. I have all relavent evidencce to suggest it should have been filed. 30 mins wasted and no result, avoid at all costs, there not even cheap. Try bulb for business.

Not one good review on here and I can see why!! I moved into my business property on the 1st August, I had no idea who was supplying my electricity I contacted bionic an energy supplier switch company. They told me it was SSE supplying the property but found me a good deal with British Gas lite. I was due to switch over the following month I was also told that SSE would probably be charging an emergency rate so I wanted it to hurry up and switch over, anyway the switch date came and went this went on for months and months, SSE were refusing my switch over but yet they didn’t know who I was or even contacted me in all this time, bionic said SSE do not believe there is a new tenant in the property and they want proof so I sent a copy of my lease, another month went by and they still were refusing to switch me over, I tried calling SSE but no one could take my call, I then sent an email but got no response.

Finally 2 weeks ago bionic called and said SSE have now agreed the switch over but as they have taken such a long time I now need to sign up again with British Gas lite which I did straight away. The next day a bill arrives with my name on it spelled incorrectly from SSE for almost £1600, they have never had a meter reading from me; they only know my name because bionic told them, 2 days later I received a letter saying that they still haven’t received payment and it needs to be paid straight away, today I’ve received another letter demanding the whole amount within 48hrs or they will be cutting off my supply and that I’ve breached my contract with them, WHAT CONTRACT??? I haven’t signed anything or even had a conversation with you so how have I got a contract.
Also in this pandemic I think it’s absolutely disgusting that you are demanding money and making these threats. I suggest you stop dreaming up these big bills and stop trying to con people, I know your game you kept this hanging on for months and months thinking you will be getting lots of money from me. Well think again because I’m not the sort of person to be conned I will pay a realistic amount what I think I owe but that will be it and you will have it when I say and when I can afford it.
Let me warn you if anyone from your company even shows up at my property they will not be welcome and they will regret it!

Both of these companies have Instagram accounts; however, SSE only seems to have an account for their career’s community. This is unsurprising for gas companies, but neither company seems to have particularly high followings or much engagement. The “like” numbers are relatively low, and the posts they make are not particularly inspiring from a subjective standpoint.
